Movie Story Explained: A Wish That Turned Into a Nightmare

Bear Bailey is a shy young man who secretly loves his co-worker and friend, Nikki Freeman. They work together at a music store along with their friends Ian and Sarah.

One day, Bear's beloved cat, Sandy, accidentally dies after eating his oxycodone pills. Feeling sad and wanting to impress Nikki, Bear visits an occult shop and buys a strange toy called the "One Wish Willow." According to the shop owner, every person who breaks the toy gets one wish.

That night, Nikki asks Bear if he has feelings for her. Nervous and afraid, Bear denies it. Later, feeling regretful, he breaks the One Wish Willow and wishes that Nikki would love him more than anyone else in the world.

Soon after, Nikki suddenly becomes very affectionate toward Bear. She even spends the night at his house and tells him that her father is dying of cancer. At first, Bear believes everything is going perfectly.

However, strange things begin to happen.

The next morning, Nikki creates a memorial using the remains of Bear's dead cat, which makes him uncomfortable. Later, she admits she was under the influence of MDMA and tells Bear that she loves him. The two officially start dating.

When Bear returns home, he discovers Sarah's mutilated body. Nikki, now completely consumed by her obsession, confronts him with a gun. Ian arrives but is immediately shot by Nikki.

Trapped and hopeless, Bear takes an overdose of oxycodone. Meanwhile, Nikki uses the final wish to force Bear to come to her. Under the wish's influence, he leaves the bathroom, kisses Nikki, and dies from the overdose.

Moments later, the curse finally breaks. The real Nikki regains control and sees the horrifying destruction around her. Realizing what has happened, she breaks down in tears as the tragic nightmare finally comes to an end.
